Cole Street Methodist Church have introduced Café Church in recent years to compliment alternative services such as the JMA Service, Mothering Sunday Day Service, Father’s Day Service, to name a few. Although the main ingredients of worship remain, these tend to be done in a modern format, involving drama, film, song, prayer, offertory and praise all sat around tables enjoying a variety of refreshments and snacks.

Next All-age, Cafe Church service: Sunday 16th June 2024, 10:30am - Fathers' Day

The café element comes from the change in seating arrangements, where the normal rows are dispensed with and coffee tables (usually with biscuits on them!) appearing. There is usually a variety of activities for all ages to participate in from table prayers to colouring activities or wordsearches and other creative options.

Because of this, refreshments are served at the beginning, during and at the end of the service and are available at any time. All of this helps people to feel more ‘at home’ while in church. If you haven’t
been to church before, this is definitely a service for you!

These services are usually led from the Chancel at Cole Street, with words, images and video projected onto the overhead screens. These services usually last between 45 minutes to an hour. They might also involve a fair amount of congregation participation!

We would love to welcome you to one of these special types of services, particularly If you haven't been to church before or haven't been in a while. You will be made most welcome.
